Our Fall 2011 Preview Party

Wednesday night we previewed our Fall 2011 Collection to press, editors and bloggers at New York City hot spot Beauty & Essex. Interested in hearing what attendees had to say? Here is a round up of some of the buzz!

Women’s Wear Daily called the collection “clean, classic & graphic”

“Women of substance and style are what inspired Lisa Axelson, Ann Taylor’s senior vice president of design, for fall. Inherent to that statement and the Ann Taylor brand is professional women and what they wear to work. Axelson has been pushing that category in a more fashion-forward direction for several seasons.” 

AOL’s StyleLIST said good luck abounds at Ann Taylor in their round up of both our fall collection and their interview with chic party attendees like Maria Bello and Bridget Moynahan while InStyle also noticed our celebrity attendees!  

Style.com’s team has our accessories on their radar. 

“The office-friendly, working-girl separates that have long been AT staples were in evidence here, like a long sleeveless trench cinched with a double-wrap belt, and the retailer nodded at trends with outerwear like the sporty olive parkas with fur collars. But the real draw for fashion watchers was the accessories table. It’s there that the brand’s designers were most successful at translating top-tier styles into affordable, everyday versions, from the python clutch ($138) to the sculptural silver cuff ($68). The standout was a pair of cheetah-print haircalf “shootie” platform heels (left): at $228, at the upper end of the Ann Taylor range, but reasonable—even for the working girls.”

FabSugar raved about our collection and posted a sneak peak of our look book for their fashion obsessed readers. 

“Ann Taylor has undergone a fresh transformation in the last couple of years, taking its conservative, older identity — and injecting color, younger silhouettes, and some totally chic, covetable pieces into the collection.”

StyleITE also loved our accessories collection, raving about our little luxuries!

“The real highlight may have been the accessories section, called Little Luxuries, which were displayed on a gold leaf adorned island table. Our favorites included a leopard haircalf “shootie,” a sculptural cuff that plays as an homage to Elsa Peretti, but at a fraction of the price ($68), the python bags, the stained glass necklaces and bracelets, and the beige and black platform tassel pump, a modern update on the spectator shoe. A couple of these pieces can update your existing wardrobe without breaking the bank. And that has always been the greatest strength of Axelson’s vision.”
