Meet Prabal Gurung
Prabal Gurung launched his first eponymous collection during New York Fashion Week in February 2009 with a presentation at the FLAG Art Foundation in Chelsea. For Fall 2010, he staged his first runway show in the Tents at Bryant Park.
Gurung was born in Singapore and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal. It was in New Delhi, India that his design career truly began. While studying at New Delhi’s National Institute of Fashion Technology, he apprenticed at several local production and fashion houses and designed with Manish Arora. Gurung’s travels took him to Melbourne and London, where he assisted stylists for various fashion shows and international publications. In 1999, after seven years of traveling, Gurung moved to New York City. He began his career in New York interning for Donna Karan while attending Parsons School of Design. In his first year, he was awarded the “Best Designer” title at the annual Parsons / FIT design competition.
After Parsons, Gurung spent two years with Cynthia Rowley’s design team, which allowed him to gain even more invaluable experience on both the design and business end of New York’s highly competitive fashion scene. Soon after, he became the design director at Bill Blass. After five successful years, Gurung left his post at Blass to launch his own collection, PRABAL GURUNG.
Since the launch of his collection, Gurung has dressed leading ladies including Michelle Obama, Demi Moore, Zoe Saldana and Oprah Winfrey, to name a few. In 2010 he was the recipient of the Ecco Domani Fashion Fund Award and received a nomination for the 2010 CFDA Swarovski Womenswear Award. He was chosen by the fashion industry’s leading editors, retailers, designers and business experts for one of the highly coveted design studios at the {CFDA Fashion Incubator} for 2010-2012. In July 2010, Prabal was selected as a finalist for the 2010 CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund.

Meet Joseph Altuzarra
ALTUZARRA was born out of the desire to provide a contemporary and practical wardrobe for the modern professional woman. The ALTUZARRA identity lies somewhere between the legacy of French couture and New York’s pulsating energy. Joseph Altuzarra was born and raised in Paris, and after graduating from high school, attended Swarthmore College in Philadelphia, where he completed a B.A. in Art and Art History, with a strong focus on fashion and architecture. After University, Joseph Altuzarra headed to New Yorkʼs vibrant fashion industry, where he was hired as a design intern at the Marc Jacobs studio. Joseph then joined the Proenza Schouler team as freelance designer. In October 2006, Riccardo Tisci recruited Joseph as design assistant for Givenchy, where he worked on the ready-to wear collections, with particular emphasis on tailoring. It was during his time in Paris that Joseph Altuzarra decided to move back to New York to launch his own line. From his continental upbringing and liberal arts education to his exposure to vanguard New York designers and classical couture training, it is the eclectic combination of distinct experiences that inform the foundation for ALTUZARRA.

Meet Christian Cota
Christian Cota attributes his passion for design to his first muses, his mother and grandmother. “Their manner of dress and the way they carry themselves is an education in elegance. They define the word.” Christian Cota studied painting, a lifelong passion, in Paris before embarking on a career in fashion. After graduating Parsons School of Design in 2005 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, he founded his company in February of 2007. For Spring 2008, Christian’s first collection incorporated the designer’s early influences: the simplistic grace of nature, blending organic forms with clean shapes. Style.com subsequently named Christian Cota one of their “Ten Newcomers to Watch”. In January of 2009, Christian Cota received Fashion Group International’s Women’s Ready to Wear Rising Star Award. His work has been featured in The Museum of Fashion Institute of Technology’s Arbiters of Style Exhibit. In July of 2010, the Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue named Christian Cota a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalist. Christian Cota is a talent on the rise and increasingly recognized among both retailers and celebrities. Notable actresses who have worn Christian Cota include Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, Carrie Underwood, Elizabeth Banks, Eva Longoria Parker, Rose Byrne and Tina Fey.
