Stern Grove Festival

In 1931, in memory of her late husband, Rosalie Meyer Stern donated the Sigmund Stern Grove to the city of SF to be used exclusively for free of charge recreational purposes. It quickly became clear that the Grove’s unique terrain and border of eucalyptus trees made the area well-suited to outdoor music. A restored clubhouse and $15 million renovation later, the Grove now hosts up to 20,000 picnickers at each concert, and the first “Sunday at the Grove” marks the official start of summer for many a San Franciscan. This year, greats like the English Beat, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, and Neko Case round out the 74th season of the nation’s longest-running free outdoor music festival.

The Stern Grove Festival is playing at Sigmund Stern Grove every Sunday starting at 2pm from June 19 to August 21. Check out Flavorpill for more information on this event and all the other cultural happenings in your city.
