Cirque Éloize: iD
Like Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Éloize emerges from Montreal, but twists the concept of a circus act into a mind-boggling display of urban acrobatics, dance, music, and lunatic stunts. For iD, director Jeannot Painchot says he drew aesthetic inspiration from “comic books, science-fiction movies, and the rich universe of graffiti” to create his futuristic metropolis, centered on a public space where agile individuals reign free and the likes of contortionists, breakdancers, street bikers, inline skaters, acrobats, and Cyr wheel riders interact in a range of physical feats, making for an engaging, hyper-energized theatrical experience.
Cirque Éloize’s iD is playing from July 26th to August 7th the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Check out Flavorpill for more information on this event and all the other cultural happenings in your city.
